Overview

Kemin Proteins is seeking a Senior Technical Services Manager to join their Protein team!  Our Technical Services team plays a key role in ensuring we understand and successfully fulfill our customers' objectives. The ideal candidate will use their experience with meat processing to work directly with our customers to optimize their product's performance.

 

As a Technical Services Manager, you will maintain a role of scientific expert that is viewed as a source of reliable information by the industry.  You will also have the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams to best meet our customer's needs and may be called upon to advise internally on strategic planning.

  • Conducting bench testing, pilot lab test, and in-plant validation
  • Partnering with our Sales team, providing technical sales support to current and potential customers, keenly demonstrating Kemin products' impact on quality, yield, and cost with our proprietary clean label ingredients

  • Working with our Research & Development team, creating and modulating formulations to optimize our product's impact in meeting our customers' needs

  • Strategizing with our Operations team, fine tuning processes to improve overall product quality

 

This position is a remote role and can be located anywhere within the continental United States. 
Travel requirements may vary throughout the year, primarily domestic up to 60%.
The ideal candidate must be located near an airport.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Kemin in a professional and knowledgeable manner that provides assurance of Kemin's capabilities to customers.
  • Work closely with Account Managers and Product Managers in identifying opportunities, establishing goals and strategies, and implementing actions to meet business objectives.
  • Responsible for the customer product evaluation process, including identifying evaluation criteria, designing protocols, initiating tests with customers, coordinating testing parameters, and reporting findings to customers in a confidential, standard format.
  • Provide technical input in the identification of customer opportunities and in resolving customer/product technical problems.
  • Evaluate industry trends and develop business strategies that position Kemin favorably in the market.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Meat Science or related field
  • 8+ years experience in Meat and/or Poultry Food Processing; preferred experience in a marination, fully-cooked environment.
  • Previous experience in a technical service role introducing new products and concepts to targeted customer and/or markets in conjunction with sales and marketing.
  • Demonstrated success in working with a sales team and obtaining product sales through effective use of technical services.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent people skills with ability and willingness to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Strong analytical skills in applied research and commercial testing of products.
  • Ability to recognize sales opportunities and determine appropriate action in conjunction with Account Managers.
  • Experience in marketing concepts and applications, and the implementation of technical service market plans.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams to achieve customer and product objectives, including R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing.
  • Well organized and an effective planner in use of resources, while demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness as market needs dictate.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications.
