Overview

Kemin is seeking a Senior QC Specialist to join our Quality Control team is Des Moines! The Senior QC Specialist will have a variety of responsibilities including IS0 17025 testing and data review of raw materials and finished goods and maintenance of the quality management system for the laboratory.  This position will also have the opportunity to work with complex instrumentation and process improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various types of raw material and finished goods data review in accordance with ISO 17025 accredited procedures
  • Generate and review Lab Reports and Certificates of Analysis
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of the ISO 17025 quality program.
  • Coordination of internal/external audits, document control, investigation of non-conforming work, corrective/preventive actions, customer complaints, management review, and the proficiency testing programs.
  • Must be able to create procedures and SOPs/forms for various laboratory operations
  • Must maintain proper quality documentation.
  • Contribute to Change Managements, as necessary.
  • Conduct and participate in internal audits, as applicable.
  • Investigate any nonconformities, as applicable.
  • Perform supplier qualification tests, as applicable.
  • Ensures compliance to chain of custody procedures for regulated materials in laboratory processes
  • Record data and perform intermediate and high level data analysis.
  • Daily data entry into LIMS system, where applicable.
  • Operate and maintain most lab instruments.
  • Must follow good lab procedures, safety, etc.
  • Must work closely with cross functional teams (including Operations, R&D, and other quality groups.)
  • Develop and validate methods, as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4-year degree) in a related degree with 5+ years of related experience or Masters Degree with 2+ years of related experience 
  • Must have ISO 17025 quality management and/or technical management knowledge
  • Advanced working knowledge on all lab instruments and method validations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to use computer systems, including MS Office, M3 and LIMs, etc
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Must have project management skills
  • Familiarity of SPC principles and practices
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, perform maintenance, and instruct and perform method validation on lab equipment
  • Ability to interact well with others in a team environment
