Overview

The Global IT Security Specialist 1 will be responsible for the remediation of threats and vulnerabilities in the company’s IT systems and software architecture and preparing for potential threats that could disrupt the company’s operations. They will advise management on policies and procedures related to the IT industry. The role requires in-depth expertise in specific hard skills such as networking and protocols.  They would be expected to be heavily involved and assist with tracking issues, coordinating training, updating documentation, and assisting the other IT teams in coordination of new features and vulnerability patching (if applicable). They will be a primary point of contact for Incident Detection and Response and will facilitate the remediation of security incidents on all endpoints.  They will need to be able to work with a global team coordinating tasks and projects related to information security and implement new technologies to further enhance the security of the company.

Responsibilities

Main technical knowledge expected

  • Basic understanding of security systems including anti-virus applications, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems and intrusion detection and notification systems.
  • Basic knowledge of secure network architectures, encryption technologies and standards, application security, virtualization technologies and secure coding practices.
  • Basic knowledge of identity and access management principles, networking routing techniques, social engineering, and Advanced Persistent Threat (APT)
  • Basic experience developing, operating, and maintaining security systems

Technical expertise responsibilities

  • Act as point of contact for managed security detection and response service
  • Acts as a technical resource for IT projects related to information security systems
  • Execute and track the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systems.
  • Serves as a technical expert in information security by working to resolve assigned issues within security and coordinating with teams on solutions
  • Creates documentation, including diagrams, for the IT Support Teams
  • Performs regular System Monitoring for irregular behaviors and presents findings to Management
  • Basic Troubleshooting and resolution of security infrastructure software and hardware  
  • Identifies and evaluates new technologies to enhance and support the company’s security
  • Ensures system security best practices and Kemin IT policies are followed and in place

Assists with periodic audits of global information security to ensure compliance to policies and standards

 

Other responsibilities as IT technical expert

  • Adheres to the Change Management Procedures as defined by WW IT
  • Insight into how information security systems work together and integrate within the global infrastructure
  • Assists IT management in guiding the organization’s information security technology in the global infrastructure systems
  • Finds, obtains, and uses resources effectively to resolve problems
  • General awareness of latest technology trends and technologies/methodologies
  • Keeps up-to-date with upcoming information security changes and vulnerabilities and plans accordingly for the impact those changes would have to the overall global security
  • Performs their responsibilities under general supervision and guidance from the WW IT Infrastructure and Security Team Manager

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a customer oriented, team player, have strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Research, understand, participate and contribute to the goals and mission of the IT Department and the company as a whole
  • Perform all responsibilities of this position while continually presenting a positive and professional example for the rest of the team and the company
  • Ability to train users at different skill levels
  • Experience with help desk ticketing software
  • Experience with incident troubleshooting and escalation
  • Possess effective prioritization and project management skills
