Overview

Kemin is seeking a Scientist to join our Enzyme Applications team. This role will lead and execute research programs focused on evaluating enzyme performance, developing innovative application solutions, and generating scientific data to support product development and commercialization. The successful candidate will collaborate across global R&D, product development, marketing, technical service, and business teams to translate scientific discoveries into practical customer solutions.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated scientist with strong experimental skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for applying science to solve real-world challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and interpret laboratory studies to evaluate enzyme functionality and performance across diverse applications.
  • Develop innovative approaches to optimize enzyme performance and application outcomes.
  • Lead scientific investigations related to enzyme mechanisms, biochemical interactions, and application technologies.
  • Analyze and interpret complex experimental data using appropriate statistical and scientific methods.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, scientific publications, and intellectual property disclosures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across research, product development, operations, and commercial functions.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with laboratory safety, quality, and documentation requirements.
  • Stay current with emerging scientific literature, technologies, and industry trends relevant to enzyme applications.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives that support Kemin's long-term growth and technology leadership.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Enzymology or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial or equivalent research experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, and troubleshoot scientific experiments.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated fluency in English.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Undergraduate education from a 211 university.  Graduate education from a renowned university or institute. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with enzymes, enzyme characterization, enzyme applications, or protein-based technologies.
  • Knowledge in data analysis and statistical analysis.
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, spectroscopy, enzyme assays, or other biochemical characterization methods.
  • Experience supporting product development, technology commercialization, or customer-focused research.
  • Track record of scientific publications, patents, technical presentations, or successful project delivery.
