Overview

Kemin is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to join our Shanghai R&D team. This role focuses on molecular biology research and strain development to support innovation in enzyme and biotechnology platforms. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on expertise and a solid foundation in gene cloning and transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute molecular biology experiments including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, cloning, plasmid construction, sequencing analysis, and gene expression studies.
  • Perform microbial genetic engineering using techniques such as CRISPR/Cas systems, homologous recombination, and transformation.
  • Construct and characterize recombinant strains in bacterial and fungal hosts.
  • Design gene expression cassettes, promoters, selectable markers, and genome editing strategies.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure data integrity.
  • Independently analyze experimental data and interpret results using statistical and bioinformatics tools.
  • Troubleshoot experimental challenges and propose scientifically sound solutions.
  • Develop and improve SOPs, laboratory methods, and research protocols.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Genetics, or a related scientific discipline with 2+ years of relevant research experience or bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of industrial or academic research experience;
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques and microbial strain engineering.
  • Experience with cloning, plasmid construction, PCR, DNA assembly, and sequencing analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results within agreed timelines.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Demonstrates strong scientific curiosity and self-motivation.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment
