Overview

The Scientist is responsible for being the technical lead on multiple projects and cross-functional teams.  Scientists are responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of research studies/projects.  They are responsible for devising, formulating, and executing research protocols and disseminating their findings and insights through internal and external publications. They identify internal and external opportunities to obtain new intellectual property and evaluate external intellectual property.

Responsibilities

Lead R&D Projects: 

  • Independently conduct innovative scientific experiments and translate research into practical applications. Troubleshoot lab equipment & instrumentation.
  • Perform literature reviews for new areas of Kemin that get incorporated into strategy.
  • Independently develop and review SOP’s, research protocols and research methods; design safety procedures. 

 

Data Collection & Analysis:

  • Independently perform advanced data analysis and review other’s data to provide input and insight.  
  • Coach others on the proper analysis needed for different projects.  
  • Source innovative data analysis methods needed for projects.

Scientific Communication:

  • Independently generate scientific publications for internal and external publications.
  • Present both internal and external research reports in multiple formats.  Lead execution of reports and translate insights into actionable recommendations. 
  • Review internal publications across Kemin as well as external for scientific journals.

 

Management and Coaching

  • Provides instruction and training to team members. 
  • Manage and/or mentor direct reports to reach SMART goals.

 

External Research and Strategic Planning

  • Independently identify and lead external research collaborations to obtain new intellectual property.
  • Lead up to one or more areas of the strategic planning process and one focus area for customer meetings. 
  • Provide input to management and manage research budget in area of focus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree (Scientific or Engineering) minimum 10 years
  • Masters Degree (Scientific or Engineering) minimum 5 years

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment; able to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent scientific skills in experiment design and data collection with ability to perform advanced statistical analysis.
  • Very strong analytical and problem solving skills with a strong scientific curiosity and innovative thinking.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and address with solutions-oriented approach. 
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; excellent time management skills.
  • Advanced computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral. 

Job Offer Details

 

Contract: Permanent

Working hours: full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times.

Annual gross salary (RAL): 2 level CCNL Food Industry; Range RAL: 50,000-60,000 euro.
