Overview

The Associate Director, Branding & Communications will lead Kemin’s enterprise branding and communications strategy, governance, and execution to strengthen brand equity, ensure consistent brand expression, and improve communication effectiveness across the organization.

 

This role will work in close collaboration with leadership, business units, and cross-functional teams to implement day-to-day enterprise brand governance and channel performance, and scale standards and toolkits across business units and regions. The role requires strong global marketing leadership, deep experience in B2B markets, cross‑regional collaboration, and the ability to translate corporate messages into compelling global narratives and customer experiences.

 

This position is located at our Headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa.

Responsibilities

  • Own corporate brand strategy, architecture, and identity governance across business units and regions to ensure consistent brand positioning, messaging, and visual identity worldwide.
  • Lead enterprise communication strategies and messaging frameworks, guide integrated plans for external and internal audiences, and facilitate global‑regional planning cycles and sharing of best practices across markets.
  • Lead corporate campaigns and own corporate storytelling with measurement-driven optimization across channels (web, social, email, executive communications, corporate content platforms).
  • Set standards and governance for corporate collateral and events to ensure on-brand quality and ROI discipline. Implement global governance policies and ensure brand compliance.
  • Partner with leadership teams and HR on strategic communications topics (employee engagement, culture, change) and provide channel/editorial expertise and governance.
  • Work closely with Corporate Affairs and Global Strategic Portfolios integrated marcom teams to monitor brand health, reputation, stakeholder engagement, and channel/content performance, and translate insights into action using data and analytics.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of branding, communications, and events professionals to foster an inclusive, collaborative global culture and ensure ongoing capability building.
  • Manage agencies and external partners including budgets and performance.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field with 10+ years of experience in branding, communication, events, or integrated marketing within B2B industries. 
  • Experience working for a global company in life science, agriculture, food or health is preferred.
  • Proven experience leading corporate branding, major events and multi-channel communications, including governance and standards, especially in the North American region.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape messaging and deliver integrated programs with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex science/technology topics for broad audiences including customers and partners.
  • Strong analytical approach to measurement, optimization, and performance reporting.
  • People leadership experience (small team), strong cross-functional influencing skills, and experience across global regions with multicultural collaboration within a matrix organization.
  • Solid experience managing agencies and external partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills and project management skills with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects efficiently in order to meet deadlines.
  • A high degree of personal motivation, a desire to make an immediate contribution and a sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated integrity and honesty in all aspects.
  • Must have a solid understanding and adherence to the Servant Leadership philosophy.
  • Travel 10-15%
