Overview

Kemin Animal Nutrition & Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Product Manager specializing in Intestinal Health. This position plays a key role in overseeing and developing strategic marketing initiatives for our intestinal health product portfolio. The selected individual provides leadership for designated product lines and/or platforms, which includes general strategy development and implementation for product line growth.  Specifically, this role is responsible for the management of the collection, organization and analysis of market segment growth, new product development, pricing/costing strategies and communication of sales analysis reports complete with recommended strategies for growing the product/segment bottom line, reducing product cost and ensuring worldwide product standards.  They determine the metrics for product life-cycle management, and work cross functionally throughout the division and company to achieve financial and customer objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies and platform marketing plans to drive sales and profitability of the intestinal health portfolio.
  • Oversee the product lifecycle, from development to market launch, ensuring adherence to high product standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce new products and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and growth of the intestinal health platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product strategy including strategic marketing and new business
  • Oversee product line life cycles from strategic planning to tactical
  • Maximize market share and gross margin growth for product line(s) to maximize revenue, gross and market share
  • Responsible for setting pricing strategy, including pricing and volume discount schedules
  • Lead the development of communication plans (positioning, target, tactics) and packaging
  • With consultation of marketing director, marketing staff, and the commercial team, develop, publish and communicate the annual marketing plan for assigned products
  • Conduct market analysis to monitor competitive products, sales, share and marketing activities; deploy category knowledge and understanding to the management of product lines
  • Translate research data into product performance updates, technical bulletins, and sales/marketing
  • Provide marketing expertise, support and education to the commercial team for successful sales
  • Create and make presentations to customers at the request of commercial
  • Develop and provide input to reports that track and measure key performance
  • Drive Product Innovation Process through new product concept submissions as well as championing products through the process to launch
  • Develop and manage global strategic alliances, and develop and support the negotiation of commercial deal terms with alliances
  • Develop and manage a consistent corporate image throughout product lines, promotional materials, and events
  • Work with Research and Development and Technical Services to further strengthen product story through product research initiatives

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Masters of Business Administration (MBA), with Animal science background, 7+ years of related Product Management experience OR
    • Bachelor Degree, in Marketing and Animal science background, with 10+ years of related experience
    • At least 3+ years of related Project Management work (PMP certified is preferred) 
    • High potential candidates with less experience may be considered for a role commensurate with their skills and work history
  • Accomplished industry knowledge and experience.
  • Background must include strategic marketing experience.
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated, energetic, business-minded manager with a broad scientific/technical aptitude knowledge base who is able to provide product leadership, set priorities, delegate responsibilities, and meet timetables leading to the attainment of growth goals.
  • Experience as an effective product manager, project team player, leader and motivator; and the ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with customers, peers and all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated achievement of product sales objectives and financial achievement.
  • Strong cross functional team, leadership and interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Strong financial skills; especially the ability to understand financial statements and to analytically evaluate and understand product costs, margin, pricing and market share.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving, and critical thinking.
  • Requires a marketing mentality combined with marketing training and experience as it relates to marketing products in the industry.
  • Demonstrated integrity and honesty.
  • A good understanding of the chemical and biological sciences as they apply to the production of company specific products; an understanding of the products Kemin sells and the technology used in the micro-ingredient nutritional portion of the industry.
