Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health Asia (“KAA”) is the Asia Pacific regional headquarters of Kemin Industries, Inc., based in Singapore. KAA operates in 15 markets comprising ASEAN, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand, and is considered a market leader in animal nutrition and health. The Singapore regional headquarters house all the key functions of sales, marketing, human resource and finance. It is also the manufacturing and R&D powerhouse for all 15 Asia Pacific markets. Product Management is not only a core competency of the company but remains a clear differentiator to build the trust and confidence of KAA’s customers in the livestock industry, i.e. the integrators, commercial feed mills, and farms.

 

Accountability

Preferably based in Singapore, otherwise any country in the KAA region, the Product Manager, reports directly to the Marketing Director. The incumbent is accountable for the products’ marketing activities and oversees the development and delivery of a marketing strategy that will ensure expansion of market share or share of wallet, and successful attainment of 3 key performance indicators: People Touched, Net Sales and Gross Profit. The incumbent is further accountable for incumbent effort to ensure that customers are fully satisfied with the product quality, technical support and services which lead to increasing the products’ brand footprint while staying relevant and true to its value proposition.

Responsibilities

  1. Under the leadership of the Marketing Director, fulfil the annual target in People Touched, Net Sales, Gross Profit and Gross Margin. This includes:
    • Proposing the selling price for the Marketing Director and Sales Director to approve.
    • Working with the Purchasing team to keep costs down and with the Logistic team to ensure timely fulfilment of orders by the customers.
  2. Engage the Top 20 customers in the key Asia Pacific markets with KAA’s solutions and services and regularly collect insights of the Customer’s Point of View (CPOV).
  3. Maintain a clear understanding of market trends and seek out opportunities to ensure growth and profitability.
  4. Ensure the timely launch of products developed by the R&D team. This includes
    • Undertaking continuous analysis of the market size and share, and competitive landscape;
    • Developing a complete marketing plan comprising the key elements of customer segmentation, value proposition, market share and channel to market;
    • Deciding on which markets to register and launch;
    • Forming cross-functional teams to ensure achieving the desired results.
  5. Work closely with the Marketing Director to re-fresh yearly the marketing plan of existing products and manage incumbent products’ life cycle.
  6. Under the leadership of the Marketing Director, enable the company’s sales team in the region to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, materials and presentations: teach, tailor and take control.
  7. Work closely with
    • Marketing Communications (Marcom) team to formulate and implement successful communication and PR campaigns that include print, digital and social media.
    • Customer Laboratory Service (CLS) and Technical Service (TS) teams to provide relevant support to shorten the sales cycle from the Needs phase to the Implementation phase.
  8. Put in place a plan to regularly upgrade the incumbent team’s capability and capacity and ensure that the organizational structure of the incumbent platform is effective and efficient to serve KAA’s customers.

Qualifications

As this is a middle level position in the company, the incumbent must fulfill the following qualification and experience:

  1. Have at least 5 years of working experience in a technical and management capacity in livestock industry and a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine.
  2. Have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in mycotoxin binders and trace minerals in both feed mills and on farms.
  3. Demonstrate strong product management and product marketing competency (a professional degree in product marketing or product management will be an advantage).
  4. Be technically competent in mycotoxin binder and trace mineral technologies and its applications in the livestock industry.
  5. Be an effective leader, motivator and communicator, e.g., the ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with peers and all levels of the company.
  6. Have an entrepreneurial business mindset, e.g., be accountable, take initiative and calculated risks.
  7. Have a proven track record in consistently achieving financial targets.
  8. Have a high degree of personal motivation, a desire to make an immediate contribution and possess a distinct sense of urgency.
  9. Be confident, driven, dynamic, creative and a problem solver.

 

Decision Making & Working Conditions

 

The incumbent manages a range of products under the Animal Nutrition portfolio and has decision-making freedom within the area of responsibility. Based at Kemin’s Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Singapore, or any country in KAA’s market, the incumbent is required to have tremendous flexibility and may require accomplishing additional work after the usual office hours. The incumbent will be expected to travel both regionally and internationally on a regular basis.
