Overview

Join our team as a full-time Barista! The Barista collaborates closely with the Barista Supervisor to deliver an exceptional Kemin café experience for employees. This includes providing outstanding customer service, preparing high-quality beverages with efficiency, maintaining a clean and hygienic workspace, and—most importantly—fostering a welcoming atmosphere where colleagues can connect and exchange ideas.  

 

This position is scheduled to work Monday-Friday, 7:00AM-3:15PM.

Responsibilities

  • Usage of related equipment: cappuccino, coffee grinder, coffee brewers, and blender.
  • Making coffee, coffee drinks and smoothies by adhering to all recipe standards.
  • Replenishing and cleaning beverage-dispensing machines and areas.
  • Knowledgeable in, and practicing food safety codes and governing standards; federal, state, local and accreditation agencies.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary work area: the serving and seating areas, equipment, storage, counter tops and cupboards, tile, tables and chairs.  Cleaning and sanitizing utensils, tables and equipment.  
  • Setting up for café sales – stocking food/beverages and paper products. 
  • Practicing safety procedures.  Utilizing tools, equipment and protective equipment such as wet floor signs and informing manager of safety hazards and equipment failures.
  • Following Kemin’s operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling, and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all employees.
  • Following cash management and cash register policies and ensuring proper cash management practices are followed.
  • Storing cleaning chemicals properly, following MSDS rules, and using chemicals according to directions.
  • Monitoring and documenting temperature of ice machine and refrigeration units.
  • Maintaining refrigeration units in clean orderly condition, compliant with food codes and regulatory agencies.
  • Replenishing food, beverages and supplies to café displays and inventory storage. Cleaning refrigerated display case inside and out.
  • Inspecting items for integrity.  Rotating stock and disposing of outdated products or less than optimum quality or correct temperature.
  • Kemin follows a Servant Leadership program and there will be other light duties associated with your regular work such as light office work, helping out at the reception area desk, very occasional weekend meetings, misc. light duties tasks when there is time.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • High School Diploma or GED with at least 1 year of food service experience.
  • Barista experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships with strong interpersonal skills and effective oral communication
  • Ability to learn quickly and be flexible with additional responsibilities, as needed.
  • Knowledge of several subjects in order to prepare reports, perform calculations and/or deal effectively with other people. 
  • Microsoft Office skills preferred. 
  • Ability to read and write.
