Overview

Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health is currently hiring a Key Account Manager – Poultry to serve our Mid-Atlantic region. This role is responsible for managing sales and service functions for assigned poultry industry customers, ensuring strong client relationships and delivering on performance goals. The Key Account Manager will be accountable for meeting budgeted targets in sales margin, operating income, and sales expenses across designated accounts. We’re looking for a candidate with a proven track record in poultry industry sales, ideally supported by a background in Animal Science or Poultry Science.

 

The position requires up to 70% travel by car and air. It is preferred that candidates reside in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate account activities and product pricing with staff in the other sales areas to meet customer needs and objectives.
  • Build forecast reports that will feed consensus meetings with sales information for production and inventory management
  • Lead Kemin expansion and sales growth in assigned accounts. Achieve consistent growth in sales and gross margin for assigned accounts, in accordance with annual sales budgets.
  • Carry out specific responsibilities in each step of the sales process.
  • Identify prospective customers.
  • Develop customer based plans for new and existing customers.
  • Establish relationships with individuals at the all levels of the customers’ organization.
  • Make technical sales presentations on Kemin products/services.
  • Obtain on average of 24 meetings with customers each month.
  • Sell the complete Kemin product lines sold into the specific industry.
  • Develop and maintains customer database. Assures maintenance of sales reporting database.
  • Work with other departments to meet customer objectives and to ensure customer’s needs are met regarding quality data and targeted turnaround times.
  • Develop cooperative relationships with key customers and industry groups.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers. 

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelors Degree in Animal or Poultry Science with 5+ years of related experience
  • Experience with Monogastric nutrition is highly desired.
  • Must have and maintain an insurance driving record.
  • Demonstrated sales experience in successfully participating in an industrial/technical selling environment requiring lengthy and in-depth product and/or practice decision processes. 
  • An in-depth understanding of Kemin products and of the specific marketplace including producers as well as ingredient suppliers to the industry. 
  • A high degree of personal motivation, a desire to make an immediate contribution and a distinct sense of urgency. 
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office products and CRM system.
