Hennessy Research Associates - a Kemin Company is hiring an Animal Husbandry Technician.

 

We’re seeking a dependable and driven individual to support daily operations on our dynamic research farm, home to over 100 horses and cattle. This isn’t just about feeding animals and cleaning pens - it’s about contributing to meaningful agricultural research that shapes the future of animal care and farm management.

 

As a vital part of our team, you’ll take on a hands-on role in caring for livestock, maintaining facilities, and helping ensure the seamless operation of a farm where science and stewardship go hand in hand. Responsibilities

  • Feed and care for livestock, primarily horses and cattle
  • Clean and maintain pens, stalls, and outdoor yards
  • Operate farm equipment safely and efficiently
  • Monitor animals for signs of illness, injury, or abnormal behavior
  • Perform light mechanical repairs and assist with facilities maintenance
  • Support general grounds-keeping tasks across the farm
  • Work weekends and some holidays as part of the regular schedule
  • Obtain a Class E driver’s license within 60 days of employment

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience in livestock care is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with farm equipment and basic mechanical skills
  • Ability to obtain a Class E driver’s license within 60 days of employment
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 55+ lbs.
  • Comfortable with bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions



    A post-offer background check and drug screen is required.  Additional pre-employment requirements may be necessary based on position.
