Overview

Kemin is seeking an experienced Country Manager who will be responsible for meeting the collective budgeted sales and gross margin for the division. This position will oversee the base of operations for Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health’s (KANA) business in Mexico and Central America. The country manager is responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning, forecasting, managerial support, coaching, and mentoring. Also responsible for assisting with the management of sales projects, the allocation of resources, and the clearing of hurdles that may hinder the effectiveness of the sales managers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Kemin Mexico sales, marketing, and technical services team for the North American Animal Nutrition and Health business unit at Kemin.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the operational goals and objectives of the organization within the set time and approved budget, by efficient utilization of available resources.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the annual strategic plan for Kemin Mexico, meeting or exceeding financial and strategic objectives.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the Kemin Mexico sales, marketing and technical services team through frequent interaction and communication with the sales team, customers, KANA US, and the KANA leadership team. 
  • Implement fundamental sales tools and processes, including coaching, training, tracking metrics, analyzing, and reporting performance of the members of the Kemin Mexico sales, marketing, and technical services team.
  • Motivate and develop the staff of Kemin Mexico through sound people management strategies.
  • Develop an effective organization through hiring, retention, and training of employees, providing strategic vision, leadership, coaching, and guidance.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the Regional Sales Managers and Account Managers to ensure that priorities are clear and the coordination is sound.
  • Take corrective action to bring about required change when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the other Commercial Business Units in Mexico to ensure all the operations in the country work smoothly and as one team.
  • Collaborate with the other Commercial Team leaders at KANA (Sales, Marketing, Technical Service).
  • Coordinate with other department leads in Mexico and the US (Finance, Regulatory, Customer Service, Legal, Operations, R&D, and HR) on items that affect the business of Kemin Mexico.
  • Advise the KANA Leadership team on key planning issues and make recommendations on important business decisions.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a science or agricultural-related discipline.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of previous sales and sales management experience in the agriculture industry in Mexico.
  • Proficient in English and Spanish.
  • Strong leadership with good interpersonal skills to be able to effectively lead a diverse team.
  • Outstanding presentation, selling, and negotiating skills.
  • Results-oriented.
  • Clear, persistent, patient, and proactive communication skills.
  • Superior project management skills with experience in planning, innovating, developing, and selling value-added propositions, using sound technical and commercial reasoning.
  • Excellent distributor management and relationship-building skills.
