Overview

We're hiring! Are you passionate about building strong customer relationships and bringing cutting-edge food technologies to the market? Kemin is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to champion our products and solutions throughout the South Central region. In this dynamic role, you’ll work hands-on with customers, providing education and insight into our innovative programs and product portfolio—including Proteus, our breakthrough meat processing technology for beef, chicken, pork, and turkey. This solution enhances yield and moisture while reducing label changes and overall costs. Through regular in-person visits, you’ll collaborate with both prospective and existing customers to understand their production challenges and offer tailored recommendations that optimize their operations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Meat Science, a proven track record in sales success, and demonstrates a proactive, customer-first approach. 

 

This role will be responsible for servicing the South Central territory that includes

Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. 

 

Extensive travel (50%), mostly by car with some air travel, will be required. 

Candidates must reside within the territory, preferably Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve consistent growth in sales and gross margin within each of the assigned accounts, in accordance with yearly sales budgets.
  • The Technical Sales Manager has specific responsibilities in each step of the sales process to ensure that a sale is successfully completed.  These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Identifying prospective customers
    • Developing customer based strategic plans for new and existing customers
    • Establishing relationships with individuals at all levels of a customer’s organization
    • Making technical sales presentations on Kemin programs/products
    • Closing the sale and implementing the startup programs.
    • Engage, retain, and grow existing customers.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Meat Science or Food Science.
  • Minimum of 5+ years previous experience in sales or technical service/sales in the food ingredient industry.  A focus in the meat/protein industry is desired.
  • Experience with managing large accounts is highly valued.
  • A solid understanding of the chemical and biological sciences in order to prepare and present detailed technical and commercial presentations to prospective customers.
  • Prior experience in managing sales projects to a successful completion. 
  • A high degree of energy and personal motivation, demonstrated project and time management skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct high level meetings as well as assist customers with testing products in the manufacturing plant.
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office products and database development programs and the ability to train others in these systems.
  • Excellent communications skills.  Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are an asset.
