Responsibilities

  • Manage and process end-to-end multi-state bi-weekly payroll.
    Process off-cycle payrolls, bonus/commission payments, and payroll adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, wage/hour laws, and internal controls.
  • Manage year-end payroll processing, including reconciliation of all wage and tax data, preparation and distribution of W-2s, and coordination of year-end reporting.
  • Audit payroll transactions to ensure accuracy and prevent errors.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to audits, garnishments, and tax notices.
  • Set up and maintain tax profiles for all jurisdictions; manage multi-state and local tax registrations.
  • Maintain payroll & timekeeping system configuration and updates.
  • Administer and manage the timekeeping system; ensure accurate time data collection and approvals.
  • Audit time-off data and ensure accurate payouts.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Generate payroll and timekeeping reports for HR, Finance, and leadership; analyze trends in labor costs, overtime, etc.
  • Support and educate employees on using payroll self-service tools for paystubs, tax forms, and direct deposit.
  • Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Partner with finance and Human Resources to ensure changes in regulations and business strategy is addressed timely.
  • Address employee payroll questions, provide education, and ensure timely resolution.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience with a degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience if no degree.
  • Experience must include full process payroll, preferably with multi-state processing
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and extreme discretion
  • Self starter with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Fluent in English
