Overview

Kemin is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to support our Kemin Biologics global team. This position has the responsibility of ensuring that the department is in compliance with U.S. GAAP, local GAAP and worldwide reporting as well as the Kemin Worldwide Accounting Manual. This person will review and handle any issues or concerns before financials are presented to the Associate Director. This position will also review internal control audits and proactively research issues and accounting topics that may have a material impact on Kemin’s future performance.

 

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in Accounting, extensive Microsoft Excel abilities, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance for US GAAP, local GAAP and the Worldwide Accounting manual.
  • Handle all issues for month end close, ensuring financials are sent on time and accurately.
  • Handle complex issues and present to Finance Directors as needed, with potential solutions. 
  • Ensure compliance with all internal controls.
  • Work with external auditors on requests.
  • Manage the annual budget process.
  • Proactively conduct and present analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with banking requirements. 
  • Ability to develop and conduct simulations in conjunction with other departments.
  • Maintain trending analysis and provide insights to senior leaders.
  • Proactive analysis of manufacturing and cost improvements with the ability to provide in depth analysis.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, company, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to financial statements.
  • Ability to manage and develop employees.
  • Ability to provide research on financial accounting.
  • May work with other departments and external contacts such as banking personnel, tax preparers, and auditors.
  • Implement financial process improvements annually. 

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting with 10+ years of experience working in a finance or accounting role OR
    • Masters degree or CPA with 8-10 years experience working in a finance or accounting role.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and reasonings.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues regarding transactions. 
  • Ability to see and read numbers.
  • Training and developing employees.
