Overview

Kemin Application Solutions is seeking a Service Engineer to join our team! This team is responsible for the design, maintenance, and support of the product application systems and services we provide to our customers. The Service Engineer will perform routine equipment checks at customer sites, including pump calibrations, minor system repairs, and nozzle inspections and cleaning. This role requires travel to customer locations, primarily pet food and rendering facilities, and may involve additional service calls as needed.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering or maintenance, with a strong understanding of pipe-fitting, plumbing, and either electrical or construction engineering.

 

Travel is required up to 70% of the time, primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work. Travel demands may vary seasonally.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of equipment service including calibration.
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing application systems at customer locations.
  • Responsible for maintaining site documentation and reports. 
  • Foster a positive team environment and assist coworkers as required.
  • May assist in assembly, integration, or installation of application equipment at customer sites across North America.
  • Attend local exhibitions, seminars, training and workshops.
  • Assist in development of new applications systems.
  • Foster strong, professional relationships with customers to ensure effective communication and service.
  • Provide day to day support to customers, sales team and KAS engineers.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology with 0-3 years of related experience in maintenance or a technician-related role. 
  • Pet food or rendering experience is preferred. 
  • Experience with pipe-fitting, plumbing, electrical or construction engineering highly preferred.
  • Capability to learn and understand electrical and communication systems.
  • Familiarity or understanding of PLC’s and automation system is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently or in a structured team.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Quality minded. 
  • Travel 70%, primarily domestic but could include international
