Design Engineer

Kemin Application Solutions team is seeking a Design Engineer! This team is responsible for product application systems and services that Kemin offers to it's customers.  The Design Engineer will develop, analyze, and implement electrical schematics and equipment drawings to support fabrication and troubleshooting of systems.   

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Engineering, with experience in areas of equipment design, hydro-mechanics, electro-mechanical engineering; measurement and control technology; process engineering.

Interested applicants must be based in Des Moines, Iowa, or willing to relocate.

• Develop innovative PLC, HMI, and Scada solutions to maximize the applicator efficiency.
• Responsible for keeping system schematics and drawings up to date, managing version history.
• Responsible for researching technical and economical  improvements.
• Recommend and review instrument specifications for projects.
• Build various application equipment.
• Troubleshoot existing application systems at customer locations.
• Foster a positive team environment and assist coworkers as required
• Ability to assemble and install application equipment at customer sites across North America.
• Participate in attending local exhibitions, seminars, trainings, and workshops.
• Assist in development of new application systems.
• Provide day to day support to customers, sales team, and KAS Engineers.

• Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, preferably in Agriculture, Design, or Industrial Technology with 1 to 3 years’ experience in an industrial environment, including field work at customer location
• Experience in liquid dosing systems and Feed Mill process technology is desired, but not required
• Familiarity with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Capability to learn and understand electrical and communication systems
• Strong affinity for industrial automation
• Profound knowledge and understanding of mechanical and electrical schematics
• Ability to work independently or in a structured team
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Self-starter and highly organized
• Quality minded
