Overview

Kemin Food Technologies is seeking a Technical Services Associate to join their Protein team!  Our Technical Services team plays a key role in ensuring we understand and successfully fulfill our customers' objectives. The ideal candidate will have earned an advanced degree in Meat or Food Science.  Experience working with  meat formulations, antioxidants, and antimicrobials is a plus.  

 

This person will be responsible and accountable for providing technical support, and sales assistance to current and potential customers within the Kemin Food Technologies protein business. They will successfully

  • Conduct bench testing, pilot lab test, and in-plant validation
  • Partner with our Sales team, providing technical sales support to current and potential customers, keenly demonstrating Kemin products' impact on quality, yield, and cost with our proprietary clean label ingredients
  • Work with our Research & Development team, creating and modulating formulations to optimize our product's impact in meeting our customers' needs
  • Strategize with our Customer Laboratory Services team, defining protocols and trials for internal and external studies with customers and prospects team 

This position is a remote role and can be located anywhere within the continental United States. 
Travel requirements may vary throughout the year, primarily domestic up to 60%.
The ideal candidate must be located near an airport.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working with the Technical Service Managers (TSM) and to design protocols, initiate and facilitate testing with customers, and coordinate testing parameters with Research and Development (R&D) and with Customer Laboratory Services (CLS) and report findings to customers in a confidential, standard format.
  • Responsible for working with the sales team to conduct technical sales calls and presentations.
  • Assist in customer business development, new product evaluation and testing, and current product line extension development (Product Innovation Process).
  • Perform project-specific tasks, which may include laboratory and bench testing analyses, development of written application trial protocols and final reports, customer trial support, data management, and presentation within the industry
  • Responsible for identifying customer opportunities and resolving customer/product technical problems, in conjunction with Technical Services Manager.
  • Liaison between Sales, Technical Services, and CLS to leverage the data generated to support sales of relevant products.
  • Assist in providing technical training to the sales team.
  • Responsible for generating and assisting in presenting new ideas to the business.
  • Participate in the Technical Service Team interface with Research and Development to identify and develop those products that best-fit customer needs and Kemin’s goals.
  • Must maintain industry knowledge by attending tradeshows, conferences, etc.
  • Responsible for presenting industry information to external groups and any relevant research findings regarding Kemin’s product(s)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree with 0-3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A Master of Science Degree in either Meat or Food Science is preferred.
  • Experience with Antioxidants and Antimicrobials is a plus. 
  • Fluent in English, multilingual is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications is required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills while demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness as customer needs dictate.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-energy atmosphere with a strong resilience to adversity.
  • Demonstrated drive to learn more about the Kemin Food Technologies protein business.
