Overview

Kemin Animal Nutrition & Health is seeking a Strategic Account Manager! This role is responsible for meeting the collective budgeted sales and gross margin for the large scale, national or strategic accounts assigned to them. These accounts may span multiple territories. They are responsible for providing leadership, managerial support, coaching and mentoring, and strategic assistance to the region/territory’s Sales Managers that work with the assigned national or strategic accounts. They are also responsible for assisting the Region’s sales managers with management of sales projects, the allocation of resources and clearing of hurdles that may hinder the effectiveness of the sales managers.  

 

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the technical aspects of feed ingredients and the ability to effectively communicate their benefits to clients. This includes demonstrating strong technical selling skills and the ability to tailor solutions to meet the specific needs of agricultural clients.

 

This role will require at least 50% travel throughout the United States, primarily in the Northeast and Midwest.  Qualified candidates must live in the vicinity of a major airport.

Responsibilities

  • Meet the collective budgeted sales and gross margin for the region/territory’s Sales Managers.
  • Responsible for large scale, national or strategic accounts, that may span multiple territories.
  • Responsible for utilizing Kemin’s selling techniques as described through the Kemin sales process and have the ability to assist the region/territory’s Sales Managers following the Multi-level Customer Contacts within their respective Account Portfolio’s as well as introduce New Products.
  • Responsible for pricing and contract negotiation
  • Responsible for receiving and resolving customer complaints and product supply issues.
  • Manage the collective expenses within the territory and their own expenses to stay within the annual sales expense budget. They may also be responsible for additional expense line items within the company sales expense budget.
  • Responsible for monitoring the competitive activity and market trends within the region/territory and reporting those trends to the Commercial Director and/or Exec Committee on a periodic basis.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the features, benefits and use of Kemin products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in scientific field, business or closely related field and 10+ years’ experience in sales
  • Masters or PhD in a scientific or business field is a plus
  • Must have and maintain an insurable driving record
  • Proven success in selling highly technical food ingredients within the agriculture industry.
  • Time management, prioritization of duties, organization of data, analyzing customer problems and recommending appropriate solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and electronically
  • Experience as a team player, leader and motivator; and the ability to present ideas effectively and communicate well with peers and all levels of management and subordinates
  • A high degree of personal motivation, a desire to make an immediate contribution and a distinct sense of urgency
