Overview

Kemin Health is hiring a Regulatory Affairs Associate! In this role, you will be responsible for preparing documentation related to existing and new products (M3, Blue sheet, Labels, SDS, RACs, etc.), maintaining certifications (Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO Project Verified, Organic, etc.) in relation to Kemin Health products under guidance of your manager. Additionally, you may represent regulatory afairs on project teams and helping to answer customers regulatory requests as more experience is acquired.

 

This position in based in Des Moines, Iowa.

Responsibilities

  • Review and recommend changes for departmental standard operating procedures (SOP's).
  • Develop, revise and obsolete SOPs for regulatory department.
  • Serve as regulatory contact for signing blue sheets (formulation sheets).
  • Create, update and obsolete product part numbers in M3 our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for packaging, labels, raw materials, semi-finished and finished products.
  • Become Prisym label system expert and train other members of regulatory affairs. 
  • Develop, revise and obsolete sample, mixture and finished product labels in new labeling system Prisym.
  • Develop, revise and obsolete safety data sheets for new and existing Kemin Health products in SDS software.
  • Add/Remove raw materials, intermediates and finished products to Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO Project Verified and Organic certificates and lead halal and organic audits while also supporting Central QA with Kosher, State of Iowa and FDA inspections.
  • Develop regulatory affairs collateral (RACs) in relation to existing and new product with guidance from manager.
  • Support Customer Service to obtain certificates of free sales and sanitation from state agency, certificates of origins from local chamber of commerce, supply tariff codes and product variant information to support exports for customer orders.
  • Under limited supervision, may represent regulatory affairs on team projects, as they gain knowledge.
  • Assist Kemin Health team with the change management process.
  • Understand regulatory requirements and relevant government regulations in the region.
  • Follows and maintains an environment of food and feed safety in compliance with rules and regulations, as applicable.
  • Work with other departments such as, but not limited to Customer Service, TSM, Sales, Marketing, R&D, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Operations, Staff, Executive.
  • Assist in initial review of product formulas.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the IPRA team.

Qualifications

  • Education & Exoerience: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific background with 3+ years related experience preferred.

    • Degree should be in biosciences/bio engineering (e.g. chemistry, biology, microbiology, biomedical, biochemistry, animal health, animal nutrition, agriculture, veterinary, or other related fields of study)

  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
  • Fluency in English is required (additional language(s) is a plus).
  • Familiarity with regulations in the region is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail required, reliable, highly motivated, ability to work independently and interacts well in a team environment.
  • Possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated good technical writing skills, ability to present ideas effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, demonstrated prioritizing, planning and project management skills.
  • Experience in reviewing and evaluating scientific literature with demonstrated ability to analyze and assemble/synthesize scientific information from many sources, including identification of information gaps and future research needs.
