Overview

This role serves as a Workshop Technician within our Kemin Application solution department. It focuses on the design, development, and construction of application systems for use in feed mills, processing facilities, and farms.

As a Workshop Technician, your responsibilities will include welding, assembling, and installing electrical panels for all Kemin application systems. You will also have significant opportunities to engage in research and development of new technologies, collaborating closely with our global application engineering teams to drive innovation.

 

This position reports directly to the Senior Kemin Application Solutions Department (KAS) Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design and manufacturing of liquid product application systems from solution request. This includes both electrical and mechanical assembly.
  • Build and test tailor-made application systems to maximize the application efficiency.
  • Preparation of systems and/or components for installation by the field engineer.
  • Provide day-to-day support to customers where needed.
  • Manage KAS stock and inventory.
  • Monitor all paperwork – incoming and outgoing.

Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, training, or equivalent experience in electro-mechanics.
  • At least 2 years of practical, hands-on experience in a related industrial environment.
  • Experience with TIG/MIG welding and panel building is an added advantage.

Key Competencies

  • Able to manage time and tasks allowing concurrent and/ or overlapping tasks to be done simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, understand and create electrical drawings is essential.
  • Design and modify mechanical drawings according to the functional specifications.
  • Make both mechanical and electrical “As-Built” drawings.
  • Select and test specific components for new installations.
  • Draw up production lists (list of parts) after manufacturing an application system.
  • Perform functional and hydraulic tests prior applicator shipment.
  • Receipt of goods, approval of receivers.
  • Identify and report competitor activities on the market.
  • Very hands on and excellent organizational skills.
  • Flexible, diligent and a good team player with self-motivation and initiative.
  • Computer literate – use of intercompany Apps
  • A good and open communicator and able to present to an audience.
