Overview

Kemin Nutrisurance is seeking a Worldwide Marketing Director to lead a dynamic and successful global marketing team. Reporting to the Nutrisurance Global President, this role involves developing and implementing strategic marketing and business strategies to drive the Nutrisurance vision. As an integral part of the KNLT (Leadership Team), the Worldwide Marketing Director will also contribute to overall strategies beyond marketing. This position requires full integration with the commercial team, international travel, and participation in cross-functional initiatives.

 

The ideal candidate will readily evoke trust in their leadership and capabilities, embracing autonomy in leading Nutrisurance's global marketing effort. They will thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment that embraces innovation and servant leadership. The candidate should balance the technical and creative sides of marketing, develop strategic marketing plans from start to finish, and take ownership of business development. Additionally, they should be a product innovation champion, influence regional marketing managers, and build a culture of storytelling and branding.

 

This position can be located onsite at our Des Moines, IA headquarters or

our locations in Verona, Italy, Chapeco, Brazil or Campinas, Brazil.   

Candidates seeking remote work in the United States or throughout Europe will also be considered.

 

This role will require domestic and international travel (25% if working in our Des Moines, IA headquarters, 50% travel if working in another location).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive an effective marketing strategy, strengthening Kemin’s brand leadership within the pet food and rendering markets worldwide.
  • Manage global team.
  • Serve on Worldwide Nutrisurance Leadership team to co-develop full business strategies, budgets, and execution plans for all global regions.
  • Determine target market segments and the value proposition and positioning in chosen segments.
  • Strengthen data and information management (market, customers, and competitor intelligence), providing continuous and timely analysis of industry and customer trends, and competitive activities to facilitate effective decision making.
  • Provide strategic direction for new product development through active participation in the product innovation process (PIP).
  • Use market knowledge to identify new product needs and to present these requirements to sales and R&D to stimulate and initiate new product development activities.
  • Work closely with the commercial team, enabling them to meet their objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, collateral, market data, and lead generation; work hand in hand with Global Key Account managers to visit and serve large global accounts with relevant market trends and data. 
  • Develop and manage the annual marketing budget.
  • Motivate and develop staff within the Marketing Department through regular career development, interaction, and involvement. 
  • Responsible for Product Managers who will oversee the product life cycle and support the commercialization of products.
  • Manage the marketing team to have a successful implementation of the marketing strategy and have the responsibility to define and achieve marketing objectives.
  • Manage the marketing team to successfully prepare and execute digital advertising strategies, media campaigns, social media activity, trade shows, customer events and exhibitions.
  • Communicate and collaborate closely with other business vertical worldwide marketing counterparts, frequently involved in Kemin Industries corporate marketing plans.
  • Regular presentation of key marketing activities to the Leadership Team with recommendations for new marketing initiatives.
  • Support R&D in identification and prioritization of research projects and support regulatory affairs to prioritize new product registrations.

Qualifications

 

  • 10+ years of strategic marketing management experience preferably in Pet Food or tangential (i.e. protein, palatants) industry. Candidates with stronger experience may be considered at a Vice President level at the discretion of the Global President.
  • Proven business acumen and experience delivering new product ideas and driving new strategic business ideas. 
  • Strategic mindset for both marketing function as well as overall business unit direction.
  • People management experience required, including managing Product Manager positions.
  • Previous experience in a B2B environment preferred.
  • A proven track record of achieving strategic goals and delivering budgets.
  • Capable of providing leadership, setting priorities, delegating responsibilities, and meeting deadlines. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively in a diverse team and matrix organization.
  • Professional track record of successfully taking products to market.
  • Demonstrated abilities to do primary research and reduce large data sets to important strategic actions.
  • Create and execute creative and strategic marketing collateral that communicates Kemin’s value statement in the market.
  • Excellent presentation skills suitable for customer, leadership, and Board presentations.
  • Strong financial acumen is required.
  • Travel: domestic and international 25-50%.
