Overview

Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health is hiring a Senior Key Account Manager to join their Swine team! In this role you will be responsible for developing and implementing a successful business strategy for Kemin. The business strategy includes generating future related product lines as well as meeting monthly and yearly sales and gross margin budgets.  This position is responsible for all sales and service functions offered to Kemin’s customers and for developing the strategic direction including product development initiatives, marketing programs and product/brand management systems with assigned customers. 

 

The territory for this position covers the state of Minnesota. 

 

Candidates interested in this position must be willing and able to travel up to 60% based on location.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute sales budgets per customer per territory per product line and revise monthly.
  • Build forecast reports that will feed consensus meetings with sales information for production and inventory management.
  • Establish a territorial sales call plan to optimize time and money.
  • Implement customer acquisition and customer retention programs.
  • Lead Kemin’s business unit expansion and sales growth in the territory.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in developing and implementing a marketing plan for the territory.
  • Carry out specific responsibilities in each step of the sales process.
  • Identifying prospective customers.
  • Developing, executing, documenting and maintaining sufficient customer sales projects to exceed sales growth expectations for the territory.
  • Authoring and executing strategic plans for key customers.
  • Establishing relationships with individuals at the all levels of the customers’ organization.
  • Making technical sales presentations on Kemin products/services.
  • Cooperating with product development efforts.
  • Closing the sale and implementing the startup programs.
  • Obtain an average of 25 meetings with customers each month.
  • Achieve consistent growth in sales and gross margin within each of the assigned accounts, in accordance with yearly sales budgets.
  • Continued relationship building and growth with customers after the sale.
  • May work together with other Account Managers in a team selling approach.
  • Responsible for conducting high level meetings as well as assist customers with testing products in the manufacturing plant.
  • May mentor account representatives.
  • Attends industry tradeshows, conferences, and events.
  • Updating and maintaining customer information, projects and call plans in CRM platform NEXA.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: 
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field (i.e., Animal Science), business or closely related field
    • 7+ years of experience in sales within the agriculture industry.
  • A solid understanding of biological sciences in order to prepare and present detailed technical and commercial presentations to prospective customers.
  • Prior experience in managing sales projects to a successful completion.
  • A high degree of energy and personal motivation, demonstrated project and time management skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office products and database development programs and the ability to train others in these systems.
  • Excellent communications skills.
