Overview

Kemin Animal Nutrition & Health is seeking a Senior Technical Services Manager to join their Broiler team!

 

In this role, this person will be responsible for providing technical support for the full commercialization of new technologies and products. Analysis required by this position is to evaluate industry trends and fully analyze Kemin’s business position then developing business strategies that position Kemin favorably in these markets.

 

Special project assignment for this position will typically be related to the technical areas of product launches. This position may occasionally be assigned to evaluation of acquisition targets.

 

Qualified candidates can live anywhere within the contiguous United States, they should reside near an airport. 

 

The ideal candidate must be willing and able to travel up to 70%.  

 

As a remote employee, you must be willing to travel to the Des Moines, Iowa headquarters twice a quarter.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the Customer Strategic Planning process by assisting Sales employees in development of their strategic plans and develop the Industry Specific Strategic plan.
  • Monitor effectiveness of presentations and product positioning as reflected in sales results and make necessary adjustments to achieve budget commitments.
  • Development of budgets and allocating all resources to ensure attainment of strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for developing experimental protocols, initiate tests with customers, and coordinate testing parameters with Research and Development and with Customer Laboratory Services and report findings to customers in a confidential, standard format.
  • Responsible for customer business development, new product evaluation and testing, current product line extension development (Product Innovation Process).
  • Responsible for identifying customer opportunities and resolving customer/product technical problems.
  • Responsible for maintaining large trial documentation on all assigned trials.
  • Liaison between Sales, Technical Services, and CLS to leverage the data generated to support sales of relevant products.
  • Responsible for working with the assigned Sales team to conduct technical sales presentations.
  • Participate in the Technical Service Team interface with Research and Development to identify and develop those products that best fit customer needs and Kemin’s goals.
  • Must maintain industry knowledge by attending tradeshows, conferences, etc.
  • Assist in the identification of market trends and prepare Kemin Industries to capitalize on emerging markets.
  • Provide technical training needed to develop a professional sales force focused on identifying and solving customer problems as they relate to the target products.
  • Responsible for presenting industry information to external groups and any relevant research findings regarding Kemin’s product(s)
  • Participate in the technical areas of the product launch process and support successful product launches.
  • Assist Marketing department in the preparation of sales support literature by providing all technical input in to the market communication aspects
  • Broad decision-making authority regarding the technical support necessary to achieve budget and strategic goals.
  • Must produce literature in specific field to both internal and external sources.
  • Generate and present new product ideas to the business.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience 
    • PhD, in Poultry with 6+ years of related experience in the Broiler industry.
  • This position may be hired at a higher or lower level commensurate with experience.
  • Must have a solid understanding and adherence to the Servant Leadership philosophy.
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated, energetic, business minded manager with a broad scientific/technical aptitude knowledge base who is able to provide product leadership, set priorities, delegate responsibilities, and meet timetables leading to the attainment of growth goals.
  • Strong understanding of specific industry.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Good financial skills, especially the ability to understand financial statements and to analytically evaluate and understand product costs, margin, pricing, and market share.
  • Must provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Self-motivated to accomplish business and personal objectives.
  • Strong analytical skills in applied research and commercial testing with experience in field research studies and product development trials.
  • Ability to recognize sales opportunities and determine appropriate action in conjunction with the Account Manager.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and work effectively in a diverse team environment to achieve customer and product objectives, including R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Product Managers, and Sales
  • Well organized and an effective planner in use of resources while demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness as market needs dictate.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications is required.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with multiple products, customers and regional managers.
  • Fluent in English, multilingual is a plus.
