Overview

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for establishing, supporting and growing the vaccine business at Kemin Biologics in the South and Central American region.

The BDM will build this business by generating sales in existing and new customers with existing and new products, concepts and services.

A broad knowledge of science and the ability to collect, assess, and learn new information quickly is required. Interpersonal relationships skills are essential for this position

The BDM operates in a network that enables globalizing new developments and products from ourselves and our partners.

The BDM will work closely with our local distribution partners, supporting the expansion of our business in the region.

Initiating and tracking of projects focused on business development, will drive the expansion of the business.

Interaction will be required between marketing, sales, innovation, market access and finance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the business plan for your region to enable market access, retention of and growth within key customers and distributors.
  • Set the annual sales budget & commercial strategy for your area together with the respective member of leadership team
  • Identify, engage and manage distributors as part of an expanding sales network
  • Meet the collective budgeted sales and gross margin targets through project execution
  • Identify and act on opportunities to increase the vaccine business
  • Analyze market trends and translate them into opportunities
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with key influencers in the region
  • Work closely with the marketing and technical team to conduct local field trials, transfer knowledge and develop supportive services for our customers.
  • Assist in a variety of activities including speeches, presentations, tours, etc.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • BS in a life science with 5-7 years of experience, in Veterinary/Animal Health or related business
  • BS in biology, biological chemistry, veterinary medicine, agricultural science, microbiology, chemistry, organic chemistry, or biochemistry. All life science degrees will be considered. MS highly desirable.
  • Must have a solid understanding and adherence to the Servant Leadership philosophy

  • Detail oriented, organized, prioritization skills, and motivated by accomplishment
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment
  • Good written and oral communication skills, suitable for presentations
  • Handle multiple projects efficiently
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Good project management skills
  • Fluent in English Spanish and Portuguese (speaking and writing). 
  • Fluent in use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, online meeting platforms, principles of CRM software
